Not really. And I know we got some questions asking whether the fact that we chose the POY before the season ended really worked against Moustakas, who finished with a home run flourish. So let's explain why Moustakas didn't win it. When we talked about Moustakas, it got really hard to not notice his massive home-road split in the Texas League. In case you haven't seen it, Moustakas hit .437/.485/.894 at home and .222/.318/.398 on the road. Even with his excellent finish to the season in Omaha, it's fair to say that Moustakas' case for winning the award comes down in large part to what he did in Northwest Arkansas. A .293/.314/.564 line in Triple-A is nice, but not enough to win the award itself. When we were doing the voting, enough of us couldn't get over that massive home-road discrepancy when he was playing at a park that proved to be the Coors Field of the Texas League. It doesn't eliminate what Moustakas did in Double-A, but if you're comparing that to say his Royals' teammates Wil Myers and Eric Hosmer, it was enough to make us go in a different direction. We ended up having Myers as one of our final three, with Moustakas and Hosmer in the group that was among the final 10.

What if Lamb didn't have to go to that same ballpark that Moustakas (et all) destroyed pitchers in?
Would he potentially be in the running? He was lights out up to that point.

Touche
I didnt go and look specifically at those games he was only at home, and it looks like he did bad and good there just as he did on the road.
His home and road splits aren’t too good at AA, but as you say small sample. But if he had kept his pace he had at the previous two levels I think he could have been a strong candidate to win.
true, but
if they make it such a big part of their decision, it at least deserves passing mention. i think.

This is all a smokescreen
for screwing Jarrod Dyson out of the award in the season where he added power to his tool kit
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs and Beyond the Box Score.
Can't get enough of me? Check out my Twitter feed.
So that means that we have THREE top ten prospects in all of baseball next year?
Plus the pitchers…?
I'm trying a blog. It's about the Royals of course but more of a mechanical analysis type thing about players I see. Try it and let me know what you think! Scouting the Royals

I didnt think about it that way, but I dont think it necessarily means that
What this was about is who had the best year, overall. All three of our batters had solid complete seasons, whereas other propects may have only had half a good season or something. They could still put other prospects in the top 10 who they think will be better players overall, but who may have struggled a little this year (like our boys did last year).
It wouldnt be a stretch to say we have 3 guys who deserve consideration in the top 10, and that we should expect them to be in the top 25 due to their upside and how close they will be to the majors (AA and AAA).
i think it'd be a major upset if they all weren't in BA's top 25.
at this point.

that's exactly what I was trying to convey.
They might not be top tens, but they are guys who will be considered for it based on what they did this year… and then you add the pitchers to that list…. WOW….

Remember when offensive prospects seemed a million miles away?
They’re on the doorstep now and producing. Could use some more balance in positions (especially if Myers doesn’t stay at catcher), but we’ve got help in pitching and offense coming.
If May Can
Be Buck 2.0 or even Buck-Lite I’ll be OK with that, as long as Mous, Hos and Wil live up to expectations. If any two of the starting LHPs prove out and one starting RHP comes through, this should be a different site to visit at least by 2012. Hell, GMDM might even make a good trade or FA signing. It could happen.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
