I'd sure think about it,
but I have a gut feeling that he’d get destroyed in the AL. His inconsistancy is maddening.
I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

$2M plus incentives, like Francis and Chen got
Given his age and injury history, he doesn’t warrant more guaranteed money than that, IMO.
You may know me as NYRoyal.
I've liked him for awhile
Seems to be able to miss bats although those numbers are declining. Last winter he expressed an interest in staying in the NL, but who knows? Make the best offer and he may come here.

That decline is troubling. K% and (thusly, I assume) xFIP looks like it has peaked and is dropping

Kila's slash for Apr 20 to May 4, 2011, right before he was sent down: .276 / .344 / .448

Seems like a perfectly cromulent averagish starter
Moving to the AL and away from Petco will hurt him, but he seems like a decent cheap, back of the rotation guy.

If we can't sign anyone else this winter, I'd be fine with signing him in February
but he is not the missing piece to the puzzle, and I’d rather explore younger, higher-upside guys for now.
If we pull off a trade for a true #1, I would have no problem with this.
He pitched well in a pitcher’s park this year. A cheap innings eater. I may be crazy, but I might go 2 year deal for about 8.5 mil.
If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down

I think $8.5 is really crazy.
If he can be had for around $2-3M he’s probably valuable. I agree with McKinney.

33 and was released over $5 M
I think he’s worth a chance. Big field at the K. Good defense behind him. And if I compare him to our other pitchers, I would say he is only behind Hochevar and possibly Chen if we resign him. Correct me if I’m wrong but there is no compensation required to sign him either.
At this point I’m in the mindset of we have to get guys in who are better than our current guys head-to-head. So take free agent X and slot him vs each pitcher in the rotation. Is X better than Hochevar? Is X better than Francis? Is X better than Chen? Is X better than Paulino? Is X better than Duffy? Is X better than Teaford? Is X better than Montgomery? Is X better than Sean O’Sullivan? Is X better than Mazzarro?
Is anyone better than Vin Mazzarro?
The answer is no.
