Thursday, I have a phone interview with Jin Wong of the Royals staff. If you don't know what he does, here is a brief summary from the Royals website:
Jin Wong is in his 12th season in the Royals organization in 2011, his fourth as Director-Baseball Administration. He joined the Royals as Scouting Operations Coordinator in 2000, was promoted to Manager-Scouting Operations in 2001, Manager-Baseball Operations in 2002 and Director-Baseball Operations in 2004.
Wong works closely with GM Dayton Moore and Assistant GM Dean Taylor in assisting with player contract negotiations, salary information, arbitration preparation, major league rules interpretation, and compliance, statistical analysis and budgetary procedure. He also oversees the club's video coordination for the Major League players.
He came to Kansas City from Richmond, former Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, where he was the Group Sales Manager. Prior to joining Richmond he worked for Atlanta as a Baseball Operations Trainee in 1997.
Wong received a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., in 1997. While at Mary Washington, he was a Division III All-American in baseball in 1996. He resides in Overland Park, Kan., with his wife, Libby.
If you have any questions, let me know. Depending on how everything goes, there will be more RoyalsReview interviews with members of the Royals' staff in the future.
