Um

Is this list left over from last year? No way Cuthbert should be that much lower than Colon or Lamb.

That's what I said but a list from last year would have

Moustakas and Hosmer and Duffy… The description said Myers moved to outfield… so… and Herrera wasn’t on any lists last year.

and
He made his full-season debut this May at age 18, making him the youngest player in the Midwest League, and so far has proven the Royals made a shrewd investment.

Yeah, that's crazy

After the season he had, there’s no way Colon should be #4 higher than Cuthbert. I think Colon has to be behind Cuthbert, Lamb, Dwyer, and probably Herrera and Perez.

I think MLB.com top prospect lists are always poor. No better than some fairly knowledgeable fan churning out his own list.

You may know me as NYRoyal.

That looks more like it

I can quibble with the rankings, but not much, and that’s certainly the same top ten I’d ahve.

I agree with the others.

Best about your list was not killing Lamb because of TJS. (Yeah, I know the mlb list didn’t either, but just sayin’)

Nick Swisher and Johnny Giavatella deserve treats in the Kaufmann parking lot.

Colon probably shouldn't be in the top 10.

Perez doesn’t have eligibility left. I don’t want to downgrade Lamb too much b/c of injury, but he has to move down some. Cuthbert is a STUD, WAY too low on him.

No Kila?

No way.

I have a question about Clint Robinson

Why is it that everyone predicts that his game won’t translate to the big leagues? No one thinks he will succeed when he has put up good power numbers & a good average. So what’s the deal? Y won’t he succeed?

by HIT34MAN on Nov 2, 2011 4:00 PM EDT reply actions

He's always been old for his level

Actually he was gonna be in the AFL this fall

But got replaced by Serratelli due to a sports hernia he suffered.

That would have been a big chance to increase his trade value. Damn.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

No

Kila got a look because there was room for him for a while. Now there’s no opportunity for him unless someone is traded or goes on the DL.

I could see Dayton trading Billy straight up for a young talented SP

if he was offered a sweet enough deal and if he believed C-Rob could fill B-Ray’s jock.
Matt Cain maybe?

…i know, it aint happenin

by dooblay on Nov 2, 2011 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

DM has poopoo'ed it before.

He says the 1 spot and the three spot and the four spot are the keys to a championship offense, and that Butler was one of the best hitters in baseball down the stretch this year.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions

And he is right...

I just never have gotten the feeling that Billy is Daytons type of player.
…prototype that is. Great hitters are everyone’s type of player.

I dont think he would seek out such a trade….but if it was set in his lap, maybe C-Rob gives him the flexibility to pull that trigger.

If Moore sees Clint as having Kila type talent, then he will most likely be a throw-in trade piece this winter or left to rot as AAA injury insurance in ’12

by dooblay on Nov 2, 2011 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

If he puts up really good numbers he might be a trade candidate. Unfortunately for him, without any ML production he won’t bring enough in return to compensate the Royals to give up their 1B/DH injury replacement in AAA.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions

No room for him

Hosmer at 1B, Butler and DH. I don’t even think there’s room for him on the 4-man bench. I think with a short bench like that, there’s only room for guys who can play a position in the field, and this team doesn’t need someone else to backup 1B.

by Scott McKinney on Nov 2, 2011 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

if navarro can play a competent UIF at all of the if positions and on the corners there might be room....

backup C, navarro, dyson/cain, clint…and if they’d do away with the god damned 18 man pitching staff there definitely would be room

Fire Everyone

Even if you can find room on the bench there’s no room in the line-up

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I just don't think Moore is going to have a PH-only on the roster

And I don’t think it’s probably the best idea.

You may know me as NYRoyal.

by Scott McKinney on Nov 2, 2011 4:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Not for a guy with no track record of ML hitting ability.

It would be bad for him to get like 150 PA’s over a season.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

Pinch hitting for your catcher seems like a pain. And taking Escobar out of the field is not a good thing is you do manage a lead.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Haven't we beaten the PH issue to death already?

How can Colon be rated ahead of Lamb in the Royal's top ten...

when Lamb is number 42 overall and Colon doesn’t make the overall top 50?

by rouyerd on Nov 2, 2011 4:23 PM EDT reply actions

because they haven’t really updated anything.

by WURoyal on Nov 2, 2011 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

This is not an updated list at all.

They will occasionally update reports and remove guys like Hosmer, Moose, Gio, etc—but this will look different when they ACTUALLY update it for next season.

Trust me on this. I frequent that site, mostly because I like checking in on stats of other team’s top 10 lists.
