#Royals sign utility infielder Yuniesky Betancourt to a one-year deal for 2012. Yuni expected to back up at short, third and second.
Utility Infielder Yuniesky Betancourt last played a position other than shortstop in 2005.
Well, so much for Dayton Moore having a good offseason. But maybe Yuniesky and Getz will have a spring training battle for the "steals playing time" position.

Knowing Yost, Yuni probably won’t play at all at short, so there’s that. He might actually be acceptable at 3rd or 2nd; we don’t really now. Or…not.

Its for one year, he isn’t going to play, isn’t costing us a draft pick or prospects, and though he is a terrible starter, is probably not the worst util candidate out there. Not a great move but not a big deal. I doubt its for more than a mil.
