For my first FanPost, I wanted to get a sense for what the buzz surrounding the 2012 Royals is like down in KC. I live in Iowa and get to a dozen games a year or so, but I don't get to hear what the locals have to say. How excited for the upcoming season is the city of KC? Is there a sense that the closet fans that have been to ashamed to admit to being Royals fans are starting to come out and get excited again? For whatever reason, I can no longer get 810 or 610 in my car in Des Moines. I used to be able to listen to those stations on my way to work, so I would get a better sense for how Royals fans were feeling.
I will say, there are a decent amount of Royals fans here in Des Moines and I think that number will grow once the team wins. I get razzed all the time for wearing Royals gear in a Cubs/Cardinals town. "Why would you root for such a terrible team?" I get asked frequently. But I also get a lot of "Go Royals" from random people around here too, which is nice.
Personally, I'm feeling good about a .500 season in 2012. I still think contending for the playoffs is a year away, but I really believe this team is on the rise. I haven't felt that way for quite some time.
Oh, and sorry to disappoint on the sex tape thing.

How are you feeling about the future of the Royals?
2012 is going to be another completely wasted season and there's little hope beyond that (0 votes)
We'll be better in 2012, and I'm feeling good about contending in 2013 and beyond (77 votes)
2012 is our year to contend. The AL Central sucks, I'm a homer, and I'm 10 beers in tonight (22 votes)
I honestly don't know what to think. 100 wins or 100 losses in the next year or 2 wouldn't surprise me. (11 votes)
Where's the sex tape, asshole? (57 votes)
