C Jason Kendall: A solid season was cut short by right shoulder surgery in September. Not expected back until May or maybe June, he'll be straining to beat that. No question he's valuable to the pitching staff.

This is from a few days ago, but I thought it was worth noting
That Dick Kaegel’s account of Jason Kendall is terrible. He had a solid season? Okay, maybe for him, but I still don’t think “solid” is the word for it. Maybe we could say he had a normal Jason Kendall-type season. Also, I take issue with the assertion that there’s no question he’s good for the pitching staff. Haven’t we already determined that we have reason to question this? We know he’s experienced, but him and Pena produced similar BA against from pitchers. Granted, Kendall didn’t have the best pitchers to work with, but he had some talent to work with. I see a big question with this idea that he’s “valuable to the pitching staff.”
Thoughts?
Solid
is a fine word. As I recall it, his season did indeed transpire “without openings or breaks”, in spite of the wishes of many here that they’d leave him on the bench and let someone who was good at baseball do the catching.
Solid.
He did manage to avoid melting, even in the heat of a KC summer. So, in the since that he avoided devolving into a liquid or gaseous state, he was indeed solid.

If only Jason Kendall would
sublimate.
(Of course I wouldn’t actually wish death on anyone as insignificant as Old Balls.)

Baseball death would be sufficient
Meaning his retirement or playing in the Northern League or American Association.

We have met the enemy, and he is us.

The opposite teams.
They got to face him that much more since he was in the 2 hole.
I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

I think if Kaegel even visited fangraphs once, he'd immediately go into a coma.
Too bad lots of people actually believe this mindless drivel.
Killing time until time kills me
This actually kind of surprises me.
The org had a perfect opportunity to let Kendall just wither away and hope everyone forgot about him, instead they’re going to go this route.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball...Rock Chalk Talk
They really do believe that he's valuable for the pitching staff
His presence, leadership and game calling help make the pitchers better. Last year’s pitching stats show Kendall’s value.

This surprises you???
LOL I’ll be surprised if they don’t offer him an extension the second he proves he’s healthy.

I know.
Maybe I just want it to surprise me.

So what he's saying is that he'll be ready by opening day?
Not expected back until May or maybe June, he’ll be straining to beat that.
