What Greinke Would Have Cost The Rangers
Seems like this is basically what was expected in our discussions of a theoretical Rangers trade.

Without knowing a ton about those players
That package doesn’t blow me away or anything compared to what we got, aside from getting five players v. four.

My thoughts as well
Even after seeing this, I still believe the Royals did very well with what they got.
I don't know enough about these guys
to assess whether it would have been a better deal than the actual one. I suppose it’s moot since the Rangers didn’t bite.
i think thats only a marginally better package than what the royals got

I think short term, the Texas deal was far better for KC.
Would have added 2 #3 starters to the rotation.
Hochevar
Hunter
Holland
Davies
Chen/SOS/Mazzaro/etc.
Plus Profar would have been the SS of the future, instead of Escobar now. I like the Texas deal better, and that’s not even mentioning Beltre (I know people are really mixed on him).
I think Holland and Profar were better than any two players we got from the Greinke trade
batter nine you sucky
Profar = Escobar
If we rewind ourselves before Escobar’s disappointing rookie season.

Holland would have been a nice get though
Hunter seems pretty cromulent in the Vin Mazzaro mold.

we'll see about holland...i have absolutely no faith in him....
all of his hype is based on one admittedly great minor league season.

maybe
both had a .700 OPS in their initial year in the minors as 17yr olds, but Profar did it in low-A whereas Escobar was in rookie ball
batter nine you sucky
escobar is supposed to be much better on defense from what ive read
escobar is supposed to elite whereas profar projects to be good

So much can go wrong between here and the big leagues though
I get the upside, but Escobar still has a tremendous amount of upside

Hunter would've been another 5th starter added the group we've got
but I like Holland. While Beltre has an interesting set of tools I think Cain will be better than him. Profar is intriguing because he is very polished and could match Andrus as a guy who is very young and ready to play in the bigs quickly.
Texas Farm Review on Michael Kirkman
Positive Attributes: Plus FB; solid-average-plus movement; plus slider; 50/55 CB; excellent size and angle to plate; role versatility
Negative Attributes: Below-average CU; busy mechanics; fringe-average command; ~1.6 to home (doesn’t control running game)
1. OF Engel Beltre
Positive Attributes: Plus-potential hit tool; above-average bat speed and hand-eye coordination; plus speed; plus potential glove in CF; plus arm strength; 55 power potential; plus athleticism
Negative Attributes: Well below-average approach at the plate; overly aggressive; plays too fast; power potential hasn’t actualized; plays young
2. SS Jurickson Profar
Positive Attributes: Very advanced for his age; average-to-plus projections across the board; slick glove with plus arm; good hit tool; excellent overall awareness and polish
Negative Attributes: Lacks elite tool grades; power projection is average; average speed; needs to add strength to swing; overly precocious (not really a negative, but give me a break)
