My Royals-Related Dream with Jeremy Affeldt
I had a dream last night that involved the Royals. This almost never happens. Thought I would share.
- There was a big event going on. Either the Royals were playing the Giants in the World Series, or it may have been the KC All-Star Game.
- Because it was such a big event, the KC Star hired me to cover it. (Talk about dreaming! Hey-o!)
- So, before the game, there was a big open media session setup, sorta like the Super Bowl's media day. I was roaming around looking for someone to interview. I see Jeremy Affeldt. Perfect! Affeldt is back in KC! What a great story angle for a Jr. reporter!
- So I start nervous asking JA questions, as I'm trying to remember what year he got traded. Had to be 2006, right? Well, it doesn't really matter. I'm asking him about his time in KC, switching back and forth between roles, etc.
- Then we come to the kicker. I ask Affeldt who his closest friend on those old Royals teams was. As I'm waiting for the Mike Sweeney answer, Affeldt throws me a curve ball: "My closest friend from those years was probably Ray Allen," he says. I stare blankly at Affeldt. This makes no sense. Affeldt continues, "he was such a professional, such a great shooter. He got me through those years."
- With that, the interview comes to a close. Was Affeldt giving me an honest, though insanely weird, answer? Did he answer this way to basically give me the finger and shut down the interview? Those questions dominated the rest of my dream.
Anyway, thought I would share.

So weird. I can see Affeldt and Jesus Shuttlesworth being thick as thieves.

I remember back when we all thought (Affeldt) Got Game.
I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

maybe you are thinking of Xaq getting hurt playing hoops
and you are transferring him to Affeldt?
or you hate your parents for keeping you in their basement in Toledo.

Did Ray have a blister problem also?
Maybe they met in the doctor’s office.

The only Royals related dream I can recall
Is when I was in HS. I had a dream that I had been promoted from my HS team to the Royals. But I felt totally unprepared. They put me in OF, even though I was a catcher. In batting practice for my first game, I’m standing out in LF when Bo Jackson laces a line drive right at me. I don’ t know what to do and the ball smashes into my shin.
I woke up a bit later and found myself upside down on my bed. Apparently I had smashed my shin into the bookcase.

My grandma had a Royals-related dream several years ago.
In the dream, she was listening to the radio, waiting to hear who would be the Big XII women’s basketball coach of the year. She expected it to be Nebraska coach Connie Yori, but was PISSED when it was announced that the Big XII women’s hoops coach of the year was….
…..Carlos Febles.
WTF, self?

I had a dream a few days ago
Where I was caught in the middle of a popular uprising in a middle eastern country. We were driving down a major thoroughfare when a bunch of protesters started blocking our car.
I noticed they were chanting something, but I couldnt quite make it out with the window up. Then I noticed one of the protesters was carrying a placard with arabic writing on one side, and the the KC Chiefs arrowhead logo on the other. Then I noticed a bunch of the protesters were wearing red Chiefs jerseys.
At that point the driver rolled down the window, and I could clearly hear that the protesters were all chanting “KANSAS CITY! KANSAS CITY!”
I wasn’t sure what to do. Should I tell them where I was from? Should I run home and put on my Grbac jersey? Would I be beaten if I returned with my Royals hat? It was one of the most surreal dreams I’ve ever had.
batter nine you sucky
I remember
being at the game the night before JA got traded. Was waiting for autographs and Sweeney was signing and JA came out of the tunnel pissed…. was cussing at Sweeney and freaking out about a play or something that happened on the field. Sweeney acted like JA wasn’t even there, and later that week JA was suiting up for Col… Man I remember that like it was yesterday!
