Royals middle of the pack in Int'l FA Talent
This is a good read, though not a lot of new information. Right now, we are right in the middle of the list of international prospects in our Top 30. Given the only recent commitment to becoming a player in this area, I expect this number to increase significantly in the near future.

I don't know
if we can expect it to get better. On the one hand finding these kinds of players requires infrastructure and personnel in the region. I think the Royals have invested in that significantly. On the other hand we’ll soon start having higher ML payrolls as prospects come to the majors and reach arbitration.
True
but it is important to remember: none of KC’s top 100 prospects (according to BA) are from the international market. It just takes a few years to see any real progress from spending efforts. I think it is probable that, even keeping with their current spending habits, they could have a lot more “close to MLB ready” international talent, along with the interesting guys in the lower minors. they have 8 listed now (in the org. top 30); it is probably possible to push that to 10-11 just with progress from their system as is. With good infrastructure, the Rockies model seems like a good one toward which to aspire.
