Mildly interesting insights from Bob Dutton
via fan chat:
On the length of Kila's leash should he struggle: "A couple of months, minimum, I'd say. Maybe longer."
On Billy's clubhouse presence: "Billy is Billy. This group seems better able to accept him for what he is and not try to beat him into something he isn't."
On Kyle Davies: "Royals are convinced Davies is going to get it eventually. They liken him to Jorge De La Rosa in the sense of needing time....They might be wrong, of course. But I think the rope on Davies is pretty long."
On Mauer's injury: "Twins are keeping it pretty quiet. Seems like a strange deal, though. Can say this: Mauer's injury problems were a consideration in the decision to move Wil Myers from catcher to the outfield. Not the only consideration. Maybe not even a major consideration. But a factor."
There's more interesting stuff in there. Worth a scroll.

On Crow: "I think he’s in the bullpen all year unless the rotation completely blows up. "
If the rope on Davies is too long
when he hits bottom it’ll snap his head off and there’ll be blood and gore and guts all over the place. Better to set the drop so it breaks his neck cleanly. In baseball terms, that’s approximately May. (See bottom photo: SFW but nasty if you look at it close up.)

Wow.
This kind of thing is reason #2 that I love this site. (The random history trivia lesson, not the decapitations [that would be reason #3])
"I DARE you to make less sense."
I keep trying to hang the nickname "Black Jack" on Soria
because 1) the historical Black Jack Ketchum was an extremely bad-ass dude, a genuine Old West train robber and cattle rustler who died game to the last, 2) blackjack is a winning hand at cards, and 3) a blackjack is a very dangerous weapon, but nobody else seems to like it.

You'll just confuse all the middle aged white people at the game.
Black Jack? I thought Soria was Mexican?
With the Mexicution of his original nickname, I could get behind Black Jack, but it’s also another violent name that he probably wouldn’t want.
The original Black Jack was white
And it’s a different kind of violence. Black Jack went out and robbed trains, but he claimed that he never killed anybody, though that’s questionable. He was a bandit, a desperado, an Old West character, not a drug lord who commits mass murders. Comparing the real Black Jack with what’s happening in Mexico now is like comparing the Daltons and the Crips.

The black thing was a joke.
And the Old West conjures up images of gunfights, stagecoach robberies, saloons, poker games, drinking, and whores. I’d say it very much has a connection to Mexican violence despite the violence level being lower.
I only started really following Royals in like 2009 (Zack Greinke bandwagoner), don’t really knew what’s happening. So… what Billy “is”, sounds like he isn’t normal.

I think billy is just
A typical laid back fun loving country boy, or at least that’s the vibe I’ve always gotten from him .maybe that just rubbed some people the wrong way

it continues to be a really weird story that the royals are pushing for some reason...
I’ve heard that he was too into his individual stats, who knows
The last few days
Frank and Ryan have talked about how he remembers ever at-bat against anyone he has ever faced, so maybe he’s Rain Man?

Yea, I'm starting to think he is a leper or something
I don’t get the clubhouse weirdness around him.

Me neither.
These guys are professional ballplayers who have been on a dozen teams in their careers and have played with three or four hundred different guys. Billy can’t be the worst of the lot. (Ambiorix Burgos might be.) He probably doesn’t have too much in the way of social skills, if what we’ve been hearing is correct, but he’s not Milton Bradley or anything like that. I can’t believe pro players would let their not-particularly-liking-Billy turn into something that would hurt the team.
Yo confío en Jack.
And, if someone disliked Billy so much that it hurt the team,
it would mean that that someone is out of here, because 1) Billy is the team’s best player and he ain’t goin’ nowhere, and 2) if you let that happen you must be some kind of an asshole yourself.
