Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

Hosmer is probably Major League ready. He’s probably going to be a very good player for a long time. The Royals probably made the right call in promoting him now.

Basically thinks Hosmer won't be a superstar right away. But doesn't seem to dislike the move.

what an idiot…this was clearly a horrible move made my a horrible gm who stupidly thinks this team can compete this year.

I don't understand

Is he suggesting that somehow Hosmer won’t hit a grand slam every time he comes to the plate?

It looks like Cameron dealt only with the issue of major league-readiness

He didn’t deal with the potential super two costs or trading 2018 for 2011 (and whether the 2011 team might be in contention).

You may know me as NYRoyal.

One other thing that seems to get overlooked

in addition to the small sample size of ~100 AB, is that his numbers also need to be considered in the context of the PCL. Hosmer was hitting over 400, which is very impressive, but it is only one month, and the PCL offensive leaderboard is ridiculous right now. There are two other guys hitting over 400, and three more are hitting at least 390. 15 guys have an OPS over 1.000. Hosmer is 6th in the league behind one true prospect, Anthony Rizzo, and then Jeff Baisley, Cole Gillespie, Wily Mo Pena, and Jai Miller (yes, that Jai Miller). There are almost 30 guys with an wOBA over 400.

This goes more toward how we should expect Hosmer to do this year rather than whether he is essentially major league ready.

Wow, Wily Mo Pena is still playing?

I wanted us to get him like six years ago

It gets better if you scroll down the list

A few spots below Hosmer is Josh Fields (1.037 OPS, 446 wOBA).

A few spots below Fields is Mike Jacobs (955 OPS, 412 wOBA).

I wish the Royals would have acquired those guys

Imagine how good this team would be with all three of them!
