I took a quick look b/c I wondered if the players getting the callup to AA were
“prospects” trying to make the big leap (AA being the major stumbling block for most) or if they were just filler.
Manauris Baez - has had a FIP under 4 for his entire MiLB career, except for a AAA callup last season. Probably needs more K’s to be a legitimate threat (also, he’s 25), though he did have 9+ K per IP in A+ for 19 innings this season.
Willy Lebron - doesn’t have a MiLB track record, but he’s 30. Had a good start to AA, though, with 11 K/9 in 7 IP.
Nicholas Francis - also 25, but has had consistent success and is progressing through the levels. Nothing to write home about, but wOBA above .350 at every level, and a few seasons with OPS at 800+, which he’s going to need to do again at AA if he hopes to keep moving up – unfortunately his OBP seems to have dropped as he moved into more difficult leagues.
