Questions about Clint Robinson...

I am a diehard Royals fan. Recently (As of the beginning of the season) Ive started to follow their farm system more thoroughly. Ive always followed a little bit and known the big names but now I am starting to learn about every player. One guy who jumps out at me, as Hosmer and Moustakas did, is Clint Robinson. Everytime I look at a stat sheet or the write-ups from the night before, he is killing the ball. I read today that his last game he went 2-3 with 2 HR's and a double with 3 RBIs. Im hoping for him to be at least a September call-up just to give him a shot at the league and see if he can produce. A couple of my friends say he is the next Kila, and they dont want to expirament with him. But I remember Kila coming through the minors and he never hit like this. And if he did, it wasnt for extended periods of time. Can someone enlighten me on why the organization has not given Clint Robinson a chance? I understand we have Hosmer at First and Butler as the DH, but I just dont understand why he hasnt ever been given a shot. If Im missing something, will someone fill me in to put an end to my curiousness?

Because he's not better than the two guys in front of him.

If the Royals were still playing a Mike Jacobs, I’d love to see him. Unfortunately, it’s very bad timing for Robinson.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

How is .350 not better than Butler? How is a AA triple crown not better than Butler? How is a AAA triple crown the next season not better (assuming he keeps his current pace this year)?

CRob should not be traded. When Butler gets injured, CRob will fill in nicely. We all know Butler will pull a hammy one of these days.

Clint Robinson Major League Equivalencies

2008: 190/233/308
2009: 239/281/354
2010: 263/354/461
2011: 298/364/519

or maybe it’s a bit unfair to compare a guy a year older than Butler to Butler on his MLE’s. How about if Butler played at the same levels as Clint at the same age Clint played there

2009 (A, 23): 434/528/776
2010 (A+, 24): 413/514/637
2011 (AA, 25): 397/526/599

and how is Clint Robinson on pace for a AAA triple crown? he’s 24th in BA, 3rd in HR and 6th in RBI. Are you banking on Wily Mo Pena, Collin Cowgill, and Bryan LeHair getting promoted this year?

What Warden said

If Clint was going to get his chance, it had to be before Hos was called up. There’s just no way to do it now. You can’t just bring him up and rotate him around with Billy and Hos… That will throw their game off, and it will never give him a chance to adjust and get comfortable. He’ll end up with a poor showing. Even if he was brought up for a couple of months ( which won’t happen), 200 PAs will not convince anyone that he can hit, but it might male people doubt if he fails to perform immediately. The only way he’ll play now is if someone’s injured, or for some wacky reason someone offers us an ace pitcher for Billy and change.

I guess its just a crap shoot now.

I wish we could get a nasty pitcher for Bill + change. But the bad thing about it is: if we trade Bill before we know Robinson can hit we’re SOL. I guess we could trade Robinson for something. Although, I dont know his value for being a machine in AAA. Most of the time that doesnt mean anything.

If you don't think other teams would give us as much for Clint as for Billy

That ought to tell you something about their analysis of the likelihood that Clint will hit as well as Billy has

He is what he is

Injury insurance for Butler/Hosmer. Sucks for him, but it’s nice situation for the Royals to be in.

Edgar knows best.

As long as

Betemit is on the team CRob is probably 4th in line at 1B and DH…

should do with crob? honestly. butler and hos are BETTER than crob. thats why. Lets see if he can pitch since everybody wants him up on the team so bad
