Rookies Lead Royals to 7- 4 Win - Dan Duffy Gets First Win

OAKLAND, CA - JUNE 14: Jeff Francoeur #21 of the Kansas City Royals celebrates with Eric Hosmer #35 after scoring on a Billy Butler two run double in the fourth inning against the Oakland Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on June 14, 2011 in Oakland, California. Quick hits:

  1. Duffy was fairly effective in a Royals starter type of way.  4 Hits, 4 BBs, only 2 Ks.  Limited the A's to only 2 runs. The strike zone was small for all the pitchers, but he needs to get the walks down.  On the season he has allowed more walks (21) then K's (20).  His WHIP of 1.89 is higher than both Davies (1.80) and O'Sullivan (1.78).
  2. Moustakas laid down a sac bunt in the 2nd inning with 2 on and no outs. I think most people couldn't figure out what Yost was thinking. In the post game interview, Moustakas admitted that he messed up the call. I guess I owe Yost an apology.
  • Hosmer and Moustakas combined went 4 for 7 with 3 Runs scored, 1 RBIs and 3 walks
  • The A's pitchers weren't good. They walked 9 Royals hitters.
  • Someone posessed Frenchy.  2 BB and 2 SB in the same game. Both were more than he has had the entire month of June so far.
  • Escobar went 3 for 5 and is actually hitting pretty decent. With all the praise, he is finally back to his season average as seen in this graph of his batting average:
