I like Jarrod, probably more than I should, but this is an odd choice.
I just don’t buy the whole “Wilson-Betemit is our back-up middle infielder” thing. I mean, he does seem in better shape this year, but he also doesn’t seem to have the agility, range, or reaction-time necessary for 3rd base. How the hell is he gonna handle shortstop or 2nd?
recalling Aviles would just spur questions about
why he got demoted instead of a pitcher in the first place

they clearly dont plan on sitting getz/escobar...
so the backup MIF really doesnt matter too much…if there’s an injury, aviles is in kc within like 6 hours

I'm confused.
I thought Chen was gonna take Mazzaro’s spot. Did I miss someone else going down or to the DL? Or will another move be required before Chen pitches?
Chen not activated yet
I assume they will send down a reliever the day Chen starts (Thursday? Friday?). Should be Teaford?
OR
Perhaps a trade is brewing (Melky or Frenchy)? The Dyson recall over a middle infielder would make more sense that way…

And Chen isn’t on the roster yet
So Mazzaro went down, and Dyson has taken his spot,
but then Chen will become active shortly. So someone has to go back down when Chen is activated (unless there’s a trade). That’s what has me confused – is Dyson only here for a few days, or is one of the pitchers going back down? Or another outfielder (maybe MITCH! is put out of his misery)?

Dyson has actually shown some improvement in AAA
He has apparently adopted Gregor Blanco’s approach of not swinging at anything until you have two strikes.
Scoff all you want...
…but Dyson is going to see more playing time than Betamit, even if it’s only as a pinch-runner.
That, my friend, is what speed do.
Wait... maybe this move actually gets Betamit off the bench some...
…because, after Ned pinch runs Dyson for Butler… someone’s gotta hit in the DH spot.
Betamit should be celebrating this move.

He had no choice. Dyson had to bat then. It’s all different now.
My prediction is Teaford goes down.
He’s the one guy who doesn’t have a clearly defined role beyond “mop up guy”.
