Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

OT: RRFBKLYr 4 wants you...

Since the billionaires and the millionaires are 99 per cent sure that they can get a deal done so that we can have NFL football in the fall.  I need to get the best fantasy keeper league ever filled.  I need new managers to rescue three orphaned teams and two owners to take on our new expansion teams.  If you have the time and the knowledge of the game then this is the league for you.  You will go head to head with the likes of AxDxMx, NYRoyal, Raef, Mean Joe Marbot, Sisquatch, and the 2010 champion Average Gatsby, each and every week of the season.  You must list an email address and give me a phone number to join the league.  If you think you are tough enough to play in the league then click on Grudz96 and email me that you are interested.  Don't wait, we had 16 people interested in getting one of four spots in our baseball league and I am sure that it will be the same for these too.  Are you tough enough???

It's a tough, deep league

And the swings can be big. I won it one year and have fallen far back the following two years.

I think Grudz wants applicants to e-mail him

If it were me doing it, I’d make people come to me too.

IMNSHO I loathe keeper leagues

haha...

I was going to add to this, but I ran out of time this morning…I figure I would accept the challenge and defend my honor since I do radio appearances about fantasy football…but with the 5 leagues already and that I’m sure you will have no problem filling them up I am not concerned with it…I would do some strange things to get back in the RR baseball league tho…the baseball leagues I am in are weak as hell

but your vote for the DVD is a good one, because I have won one already at another site with the ole rainy day beer cart story and would love to win another and have a another contest for it…PhattStairs style

and as far as the keeper thing goes...

I don’t get it…the draft is the most fun part and a keeper league only ever has 1 full one…then you have folks abandoning teams and looking for another guy that will pitch in to try and right the ship…non-keeper leagues are so much more fun IMO…my keeper leagues I have are already boring…now if it was all cocked out with a huge bench with college prospect draft like Simmons does baseball…count me in for that

But if you don't have abandoned teams...

Keeper leagues allow you to participate all the way to the end trying to set your team up for the future.

I may be biased...

because I think that I have a serious knack for knowing who is going to have a good year and who is going to have a bad year based on circumstances…I hate having keepers that I have a strong feeling are going to suck

I would love a keeper league where guys became free agents…that would make it tons more fun…and closer to an actual franchise

well in all fairness we don't pick our keepers until August.

And when you have a deep league, the keepers are a little more obvious.

But in our baseball league, it looks like Im definitely going to be a seller in the second half, so I may try and package something for Strassberg for next year.

Fantasy Football is the flukiest of all the fantasy sports.

No way did I have the best team last year, I just rode Vick all the way to the championship game. I believe I was the 6th seed going in.

It does give one something to do at work..

Since where I work blocks games, but ESPN.com isn’t classified as a games site.

fantasy football is fluky...

because it is so uniform and there is so much information that is shared and the strategies can be simple and uniform…basically most all are implying the same strategies and whichever guy snags a lucky break like a Peyton Hillis wins more than maybe deserved

where as in baseball there is so much knowledge that it can’t quite possibly be all known, so it is much less fluky (cream of the crop rise to the top)

Slightly disagree.

Though it may be semantics. “Knowledge” to me in fantasy baseball means taking the time to check daily throughout a 6 month season. I just can’t do that.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Good Point

You and I met in the final as #5 and #6 seeds, respectively. That usually doesn’t happen, though.

by Tito42 on Jun 23, 2011 11:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I scored the most points in the league that I run

I also, by Providence, had the most points scored against, and finished 6th with a 6-8 record. We had a ridiculously balanced season record-wise though.

1st: 8-6
2nd: 8-6
3rd: 8-6
4th: 7-7
5th: 7-7
6th: 6-8
7th: 6-8
8th: 6-8

Expanding to 10 teams this season, and hopefully 12 next year.

THE LEAGUE IS FULL.

Thank you to all of you that expressed interest. I filled the league on a first come, first served basis. I have kept all your emails so if someone drops out before the draft or during the season then I will contact you and see if you are still interested. This is year 4 of this league and it gets tougher each and every season. Let’s play some football….
