So...somebody 'splain it to me.
Why...oh why...in the name of all that is Good and Logical, would you pinch hit Jerrod Dyson in the 9th inning, down by one run, before you pinch hit Wilson Betemit or Mitch Maier? Nevermind that Betemit bats 100 points higher...wouldn't you want to give your team a chance to tie the game w/ one swing? Betemit's power this year has been lacking, sure, but he has a chance, at least...and Maier has been very, very good in limited time, and is a good baserunner, too.
Ned Yost really, really befuddled me with this one. You managed in the National League, didn't you? What could you possibly be saving your better hitters for? An extra-inning situation that will likely never occur unless you take your best shot to tie the game in the first place?
Goodness gracious, what an incompetent.
