Friday Open Thread: June Draft Edition

The draft is this upcoming week and after some long soul searching, I have decided to forgo my final semester in the Master program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and declare my eligibility for the MLB draft. And the NBA draft. And the NFL draft if they ever play again. And just in case, I'm also willing to play in the AFL, UFL, AHL, ECHL, CHL, MLS, NBDL, EPL, NLL, MIL and the Lingerie Football League.

At least this guy is excited about my decision.

What I bring to the table:

I have UPSIDE. I may be 32, well past the prime of most professional athletes, but NOBODY WANTS IT MORE than me. Well, other than the guys that work out and spend thousands of hours practicing their game.

I still have PROJECTABILITY. I may only be 5'9'', 180, but many scouts feel I can fill out my frame and bulk up to 225 if I load up on carbs and empty calories on a more consistent basis.

I am a BULLDOG on the mound in the sense that like a bulldog, I also crap all over myself.

I am a BASEBALL PLAYER in that literally, I have played the game of baseball.

I have a FEEL FOR PITCHING. My fastball - while only clocked at about 65 mph on the World of Fun pitch game, has the chance to be a plus pitch for me, and while I lack any kind of  "out" pitch, scouts feel that if I am open to coaching (which I am not) I could develop a second, or even a third pitch.

Lastly, I am a GAMER. Not in the sense that I am a gym rat or spend hours after practice working on my swing. No, I play video games. MLB the Show, yo.

With the #5 overall pick, the Kansas City Royals select these four questions:

1. What underrated draft pick - Royals or otherwise - where you just convinced would be pretty good - and you turned out to be right?

2. Have you ever been ripped off?

3. What is the most underrated restaurant chain?

4. Dayton Moore tabs you to run his draft on Monday. With the #5 overall pick, who do you select?
