Obviously it's all posturing. Because Dayton doesn't keep veterans a year too long. Except for all the times he did. And he knows how to improve the value of people he's dealing, except for all the times he didn't.
But he'll claim that we have too many rookies to promote Cain or Giavotella, which is a load of horsecrap. 2/3rds of the rookies are relief pitchers.
It's convenient that he realized that we had too many rookies when his guys are the ones who'd lose spots to the prospects.

I don’t think the Royals can get any draft comp for releasing Melky after this year, some people think they can. Melky is a Royal in 2012 if he is not non-tendered.
