CHRIS MOTHERFUCKING GETZ.

CHRIS GETZ, DM. YOU ARE PLAYING CHRIS BLEEPING GETZ AT SECOND BASE. You may not be aware of this, but, first of all, HE SUCKS! Secondly, WE HAVE GIAVOTELLA IN AAA! YOU. ARE. INSANE.

I'm a 14 year old freshman in high school with a love for all things Royals and Packers.

THIS IS FUCKING CRIMINAL.

I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

Wow

Must maintain that 13 man pitching staff – be they starters or relievers!

If strikeouts are indeed fascist - then find me some starters that believe in fascism

Gia isn't on the 40-man roster

so they can’t bring him up until they decide to waive someone.

No Betimet, no Aviles

Plus Yamaico. Problem solved.

There are also guys like Jeff Bianchi, Jesse Chavez and Derrick Robinson on the 40 man that would probably clear waivers.

And if Jesse Chavez didn't clear waivers...

oh well.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

My fear is

If gia is called up, and getz is not waived, released, injured or dead, then yost will let gia rot on the bench. no way ned sits getz

Although getz would be a good bench guy

Pinch runner/defensive replacement. that gig has getz written all over it.

not when he cant play anywhere defensively but 2b...

if you’re going to have a guy like that on your roster…it should be someone like dyson who is legitimately awesome at both pinchrunning and defense and who would improve the OF defense at 2 positions if he came in for francoeur and moved melky to RF

Melky Is Not

Better in RF than Frogger.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Aug 1, 2011 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I think he would be

Research bears out the fact that range is more important in RF than arm. Arm, while having some real value, is overrated in RF. Getting to the ball early holds runners as well as having a good arm does. And Melky’s superior range would make him a better defensive RFer. And I think his hitting (true talent level) plays as well in RF as Francoeur’s.

You may know me as NYRoyal.

I'm Sure Getz

Could handle SS as well as Bloomers, and I believe he has played 3B some.

Getz would have a couple problems at SS and 3B

1. He’d have to learn the positions and would deal with a somewhat rocky adjustment period (which would be all the rockier as he wouldn’t get regular playing time there).

2. He doesn’t have a strong arm.

You may know me as NYRoyal.

To be fair, Alcides Escobar has only had like one day off this year

Backup SS doesn’t seem to be a position Nedgar is concerned about.

by OnixConcepcion on Aug 2, 2011 11:46 AM EDT up reply actions

If/when Gia gets called up, I think

Getz will get optioned to Omaha. They will want Gia to play every day – like Hosmer and Moose. Getz does have two options left, I believe.

Navarro was acquired for a reason – he can adequately back up 3B, SS, and 2B. Concerns about Getz’ arm strength preclude him from utility infielder role, in my opinion.

Viewed in this light, the Navarro acquisition was obviously the precurser to a Gia promotion and a Getz demotion – probably within the next couple of weeks.

If strikeouts are indeed fascist - then find me some starters that believe in fascism
