Royals Suffer Four-Game Sweep in Tampa
While it was far from a great start by Duffy (more walks than strikeouts) he pitched well enough to kinda sorta win. Alas, it was not to be. After a big night on Wednesday, Royal bats were unable to capitalize on 11 singles (nothing else) and mustered only one run. Sal Perez can still do no wrong at the plate, while Johnny G. is starting to slow down.
The Rays taunted KC with an all-former-Royal bullpen performance as J.P. Howell, Joel Peralta, and Kyle Farnsworth finished out the game.

We've been rallying around "Next Year's Rays" for 3 years now
and instead the Rays give us “2007-2010 Royals” plus Evan Longoria and James Shields.
The world is effing cruel.
Waiting for April.
and with that
the 2010 and 2011 Royals both started 49-69 through 118.
And the team is 1-6 since Giavotella debuted. Obviously God is angry that Getz isn’t playing.

Chairman, The Melky Cabrera Seasoning Sauce. It's great on your outfield!
I don’t know how you guys follow all these little tidbit-laden stat-groups. Do you have jobs? Because I don’t and I can barely keep up with this shit.
This is a prop, don’t take it as anything but.
I love modern baseball statistics, and I think I could write a good fanpost if I spent a few hours looking at some shit, and maybe I’ll try that instead of going to avclub.com someday.

x means recalibrated by replacing the pitcher's HR/FB rate with 10.5%
Trying to remove the luck with HR frequency, under the assumption that ML pitchers have little control over that.

yeah
mine’s Lazenby (sp?) in front of Big Ben.
the original Mark LaFlamme’s was some douchebag looking up at his wife who took a picture of him in the act of masturbating to some fabu porn.

So basically
at this rate I only need to hang around for 76 more years before I’ll witness .500 baseball from my beloved Royals. I suggest we all start looking into this: http://www.alcor.org/

probably more than 76 years
that’s 76 managers, not just 76 years. start looking into it!

Are our second and third order wins down to 73 yet?
I wonder where the floor is for this team.
You may know me as NYRoyal.
I don't really care at this point
Losses are bad, but at least we have potential future, long term starters in the line-up. Losing like this with Kendoll, Guillen, Gloadie, et al. in the line-up was much, much more frustrating.

I hear you, but the way the team performs this year, tells us something about how good we should expect them to be next year
It’s certainly more fun to see kids (hopefully) with a future play. But if this team ends up playing for the season at the 71 or 72 win level, then they’re even further from contention than I thought. And that ain’t close.
You may know me as NYRoyal.
by Scott McKinney on Aug 11, 2011 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions
Presumably you're talking...
Third-order wins, right? This is orobaby the worst possible place to put this but: i think the royals will win 80 games next year. Not contention exactly, but probably some interesting games in August at least. Further, if this team doesn’t win (or come very close) to 80 wins I think we’re looking at a mid-‘13 firing of Moore. He has two seasons with his guys, and if there are no results, I think he’s gone.
by billexgordler on Aug 11, 2011 9:37 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I certainly agree that 2012 is a big year for Dayton Moore
With no improvement at the major league level throughout his tenure as GM, everything rides on the prospects. Even he has said things very similar to “just wait until these prospects get to KC!” Now he’s added a bunch of them. He has effectuated “the future is now.” So if that doesn’t bear fruit (meaning approximately a .500 season) in 2012, then he’s going to be on very thin ice.
You may know me as NYRoyal.
