Just to clarify for anyone not familiar with the process
This is a routine procedure done after the trade deadline (July 31). If a player clears “trade waivers” without being claimed, he can be dealt to any team, even after the trade deadline. If a player is claimed, the original team can either revoke his waivers and keep him on the team, work out a trade with the team that claimed him, or allow the claiming team to have the player without any compensation (done rarely, but this is how the White Sox acquired Alexis Rios, for example)
So now Chen can be traded to any team. I’m a bit surprised he cleared as he had a low salary, but maybe that’s an indication of the demand for him.

We don't want to move Chen though, do we?
I mean, he’s going to end up as a Type B and I think a player we pick will be FAR better than anything we get for him. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Not that we dont want to move him
It just changes what the minimum return we would accept for him.
yes...i dont trade him...
we’re not getting anything close to a supp pick talent for him…we offer him arb, hope he declines and then take the pick…if he accepts, then we’re stuck with him for another year at $3 million or so…not the end of the world
