Turns out that the people who started the rioting and attacked the Israeli embassy in Cairo were crazed soccer fans, fired up by a fight with the cops a few days ago. Hooligan outfits Ultras Ahlawy, from the club Al-Ahly, and Ultras White Knights, from the club Zamalek, joined together to assault the embassy. The two groups are traditional enemies. Sounds like the Nika riots in Constantinople.
