The Royals were officially eliminated from playoff contention with Wednesday's loss. How did we miss that?

It's a system that every team sport in the world uses to determine its champion
EXCEPT 1.
We have met the enemy, and he is us.

I assume you mean College Football
but there are about 3 billion soccer followers who’d also like to be recognized.
Fair enough
but don’t they at least play every other team in their league during the season?

Yes, one game at home, one away
And there are tournaments in each league throughout the year which have a sudden-death playoff feel.
My underlying (off-topic) point is that a playoff isn’t necessary to make a sport enjoyable. In fact, the MLS, NBA and NHL are all less enjoyable to me because the regular season hardly matters since half the teams make the playoffs.
Soccer just has tournaments alongside the regular season instead of as a postseason
College football is the only sport I can think of that doesn’t see the merits of tournaments.
We didn't miss it
It’s just so expected that it’s not worth mentioning.
Hopefully by this time next year it will either be worth noting or not happen at all.
Chaim Mattis Keller New York City's # 1 Royals fan!
We are all for draft pick
I am probably the only Royals fan in Hong Kong?

"How did we miss that?"
We thought it happened back in April.
