The newcomers to the party are the Pirates. This team was tied for first before that 20 inning debacle against Atlanta. And talk about a free fall. Maybe their guys just got tired. Maybe they were playing above their heads. Who knows. I just know Pittsburgh had a free fall.
Eric Hosmer is playing like he is capable. I think the game is starting to slow down for him. He isn’t trying to hit every pitch out of the yard, and in fact, he’s driving the ball all over the field. MLB Network broke him down last night against the Tigers. The bomb to center, the bombs to right, and the bomb the other way. If Hellickson wasn’t doing so good he’d be the ROY.
The young guys are starting to get it done even though we’re losing games in the late innings now. We at least have the lead… little steps. Still a Process™ in training, but we’re almost there. Trade Will Myers and Chris Dwyer and Christian Colon and Clint Robinson to the Marlins for Josh Johnson……
The Pirates were definitely playing above their heads.
The rotation in particular was due to fall back down to earth.
Sporadically musing on the Royals at Royalscentricity and on Twitter at Old Man Duggan
