So you have the royals one pick away
from picking the best overall talent in the draft. Yeah I would believe that.
The new CBA will mean that top talent will be
Taken at the top.

Not necessarily
College juniors don’t have a ton of incentive to leave college early. They can’t sign ML deals so declaring comes down to just wanting to play the game now. If they wait a year they get a slight upgrade in money and maybe upgrade spots in the draft if not taken #1.

I don't know
I would think that it would decrease a seniors value even more than previously. The JRs are still the ones who will go at the top. They can go back to school but it still doesn’t seem like it would be a solid move. But you never know.
Pitchers have a huge incentive because of injury potential (that has always existed)
Top hitters also have a strong incentive because their development will be stymied by college ball which leads to hitting FA at a higher age. The inability to milk a club and hope bonuses will disproportionately increase is gone.
The only monetary hope anyone could have would be to be drafted earlier. But if you are drafted at the top anyway, there’s not a ton of reason to think you’d move up in the draft.
If Boras can't get draftees overslot bonuses
I wonder how often he will advise them not to sign (like J.D. Drew and Hochevar). Does it matter who drafts a guy when the bonus is already determined?
But the previous was due to loopholes in the system
They’ve closed those I thought? Now it seems more important to get yourself started so you can move up quicker rather than play that extra year. The closer you are to the MLB contract where the money is the better off you are.
how often have the top talents fallen in recent years?
not very…

I have
them one pick away from taking who I perceive to be the best talent in the draft. Last year I thought Dylan Bundy was the best talent in the draft and I still do (although I’d put a healthy Rendon ahead of him).

I'm okay with Gausman
He’s one of the top 4 pitchers in the draft. I think this draft will be one of those where the Royals take a kid with the top question being “how far from the bigs is he?” I think they go with the arm they feel is closest.
For some reason, I don't see the Royals taking a college pitcher.
The recent track record suggests otherwise. On the other hand, the draft strategy is shifting a little bit in favor of more polished players.
That's
kinda what I was thinking. I ain’t no expert, but I really did try my best lol.
