How Much for Greinke?

I am harboring a dream. This dream is to have Zack Greinke, one of my all-time favorite players, return to the Royals. Greinke had a quietly phenomenal year, ending up with a K/9 of 10.5 and both an FIP and xFIP of under 3; only one of those things happened in his Cy Young 2009. He's coming off a 4yr/$38 mil contract. What would a reasonable contract look like to you? And, play GM: should the Royals try to sign him?

Along the lines of Jered Weaver's deal

Which was 5/85 and a bit of a hometown discount. I can see Greinke getting more years, maybe 6/100 with an option at the end.

I think that's about right.

I’d like to sign him back, too.

I'm a 14 year old freshman in high school with a love for all things Royals and Packers.

2012 is the year we shine.

Fair or not

I think some teams will shy away from Greinke (or at least reduce what they would be willing to pay him) due to his, ahem, “flakiness.” Something close to the Weaver deal looks about right, but I am not sure he could get 6 years or $100+ million.

But how would anyone communicate with Zack

Without Posnanski around to interpret for him?

5/85 sounds good.

Although I can’t figure out how many burritos that is.

Using a price of 6.95 per burrito

That gives you 12,230,215 burritos.
Or 2,038,369 burritos per year.
OR 5,584 burritos per day
OR 3.9 burritos per minute.

I think Zaq would be hard pressed to eat that many

Yes

He didn’t like letting them win.
