Steve Balboni and HR/162
Did you know that while Steve Balboni continues to hold the Royals record with 36 HRs in a single season, he is not the single season record holder for HR/162, for qualifying players?
The Royals single season HR/162 Leaderboard:
1995 - Gary Gaetti, 41.3
1994 - Bob Hamelin, 38.5
1989 - Bo Jackson, 38.4
1991 - Danny Tartabull, 38.1
1985 - Steve Balboni, 36.5
1998 - Dean Palmer, 36.2
1975 - John Mayberry, 35.3
1987 - Danny Tartabull, 34.9
1997 - Chili Davis, 34.7
2000 - Jermaine Dye, 34.1
2001 - Mike Sweeney, 32.0
1980 - George Brett, 33.2
1985 - George Brett, 31.4
If you're curious, the greatest HR/162 in Royals history including non-qualifying seasons is Mark Quinn, who hit 6 HRs in 17 games in 1999 - good for a HR/162 of 57.2.

Royals leading HR/162 is still less than any other teams' single season HR record.

I remember that 95 season by..
…Gaetti as being remarkable. He was a lean mean machine. It’s interesting how many of these are for the 1990s going forward. …Steroids! Just kidding—-I think. – TL

Didn’t he get kicked off their team?

From what I hear that is right.
Gotta love The Rat. I listened to almost every game that season and it seems like The ole Rat blasted like 80 dingers. Of course I was 15 with an Appier framed pic above my bed, so I could be mistaken.

I approve of any post that mentions Chili Davis.

I mentioned this elsewhere
but it seems appropriate here: There have been 394 MLB seasons of 25 home runs since a Royal had one (Beltran in 2003- that’s almost 50 players a year)

I'd be willing to bet
that before Hosmer leaves for Boston or Philly, he’ll have broken both the single-season HR record and the HR/9 record. I could also see Moose, Billy, and Alex hitting 25 HR each.

I would have to agree with you,
except I think Hosmer winds up in Chicago playing for Theo. It just seems like a Theoish move.
I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

He'll go to whoever offers him the most money
after the 2017 season, right? Unless the Process turns out to be processed meat food product and we trade him for prospects before then.
