Rany on Fielder
Rany, like many Royals fans, despairs, debunks, dismisses and dissembles when trying to analyze the impact of Prince on the Royals.

I’m inclined to agree with this:
Given the amount of youth on the roster, the Royals’ best-case scenario still trumps the Tigers’ best-case scenario.
But I don’t think I agree with this:
But as long as the Royals take care of their own business, not even a Prince will stand in their way for long.
I guess it depends what you mean by “taking care of their own business,” but if taking care of business doesn’t involve spending a lot more money than Glass seems willing or having multiple pitching prospects turning out better than should reasonably be expected, I think a Prince certainly can stand in the Royals way for most of Hosmer’s KC career.

Only because he’s too fat to move.

I guess he’s thinking that “taking care of their own business” means lots of prospects succeeding, including at least a couple of stars. But realistically, even with better than average prospect success rates, the Royals are going to have to a) spend more money, and b) spend it wisely on the right players. There’s still a lot on Glass and Moore’s shoulders.

Don't some of the projection systems give an "upper limit" to players
like a 75% or 90% range for the less likely outcomes (both high and low)? So could we actually test this hypothesis statistically?

If we had a projection that gave those percentiles
I think PECOTA is the only publicly available one that shows that data. When it comes out, one could crunch the numbers with every player on both teams at their 90th percentile projection.

I liked this line
the Tigers responded to their one-year problem with a nine-year solution
