Solar power?
I thought the stadium could be powered ten-fold by Franceour’s leadership and Salvador Perez’s presence.

So now we get to see 120 shiny solar panels all game long.
Passing up the Marlins’ shiny outfield display now.
Go Royals!
Yeah, well...
as soon as Edwin Jackson shows he can produce 36,000 kWh of energy every year then I might take Boras’ call.
The Facebookers are going wild!
The name of that song played at KC Comets games in the '80's was Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase." Now you know.
Curious that the put the panels
in the outfield experience. They have that whole sun shade over the upper deck that would be a perfect spot.

I would assume that getting them up to that height and making sure the structure would support the added weight
were considerations in the installation decision.

In the long run... You usually break even on Solar Panels.
Since 2005: Royals win% = .4100, Chiefs win% = .4095

This is the shiz that excites me

Surprised that many of you are not more supportive of this.
But only a little. I know that, although many of you are liberal, winning is more important than being green when it comes to the Royals. Some of you who are liberal may also not care much for solar power. Not really sure. Anyway, I agree with the sentiments that we need to focus on winning — but I also recognize solar panels are not affecting payroll.

I guess its good that they are building solar panels.
But they aren’t nearly as green as they are made out to be. The chemicals that go into making those are some of the most corrosive and hazard chemicals on the planet, and most solar panels lose something like 60% of their efficiency in 7-10 years.
So yes, this will result in slightly less fossil fuels being used, but putting forth better recycling policies at the K would probably achieve similar results.

Good points.
Didn’t know that about solar panels. It’s almost as if the media doesn’t want people to know that.
Same goes with Electric Cars...
In the long run they are actually about as energy efficient as gas cars, there is just much less green gasses… But thats if you don’t have any problems with it… When those batteries have to be disposed of you are in trouble.

These and many more facts brought to you by the scientists paid for by the good people at the oil and gas companies.
“Oil. We’ll let you know when we’re finished tapping that shit.”
Thats not what I said at all.
Yes there are benefits to using solar power. But if they were more cost efficient they would be used more.

fossil fuels
Did they replace gas fired equipment with electrical equipment as well? That is about the only way there are less fossil fuels being used. I agree solar panels are probably not perfect in every way for the main source of electrical energy, but there is always a back-up or supplemental system in place anyways. The one thing it does do is look good to people visiting and for marketing the stadium.
Well...
Its not gonna be much less fossil fuels but it will be some, it just wont be till a while down the line when the Panels have paid for themselves… And have become a fraction as efficient.

I do applaud them
It may be “greenwashing” it may legitimately save energy, but its a nice symbolic step at the very least that will hopefully get people to think about alternative energy. I also like they collaborate with environmental groups to collect recyclables in the late innings.

Wouldn't a wind turbine of some sort make a lot more sense?

Wind Turbines are kinda noisey though...
Well at least older ones it may be a non issue, or negligible when compared to full stadiums.

Just playing devils advocate though...
I would think Wind Turbines would be more beneficial than solar panels.

You won't be able to hear it

I bet the tax breaks make this
a winning financial proposition for the Royals. At least, I hope it does.
