Depression: Soul-crushing depression because the season ended worse than even we had thought possible.
Anger: As we work to accept the reality of the previous season, we turn on one another, lashing out at anyone associated with the team. Because, subconsciously we know that someone should be held accountable for this mess.
Acceptance: The system is stacked against us. It is difficult for anybody to think that any team could win working within the constraints of the Royals franchise.
Hope: Irrational hope that this is finally the off-season in which we finally make some actual upgrades.
Irrational Exuberance: All we need is for all of the unproven players and underperforming members of the team to play exceptionally well for a whole season, while counting on the rest of the players on the team to experience no setbacks, then we will win the division! Our Time to book the parade!
Shock and Denial: Discount early failures, because of small sample size, while simultaneously extolling any minor successes because we are grasping at straws here.
Ennui: As the 162 game season drums along, the lack of winning takes a toll on our collective psyche. Why should any of us even care anymore?
