The Royals are 39-22 in regular season elimination games, from what I can figure. The opponents of the division and wild card leaders haven't done them any favors by going 13-39 throughout the years to hasten the Royals demise.
I counted any game as an elimination game where any combination of a Royals loss and a win for the division/wild card leader brings the season total for both above 162. I admit this is old fashioned, but this was the quick and dirty way to figure all this out.
