The Trade and the Redesign

This isn't a clever and witty post equating these two separate disasters, just something I noticed this afternoon on the site. The "cover" is loaded with all of the content regarding the trade. Kind of handy actually. However, scrolling down through the site leads me to same stories linked on the freaking cover. Scroll through the four screen grabs I have put into this post, this is basically what I see when coming to Royals Review. I've got four screens worth of space for six stories that are all linked in the first picture. Can someone explain the logic in that design?
