Dayton Moore is a man. Ziggy is a cartoon. But, are they so different?
After hours, days and years of trying to wrap my head around GMDM's words, actions, and decisions, I'd started wondering if I could ever understand what goes on in our GM's head. And then it struck me like a dull colored pencil. Only one man understands the complexities of the world that Dayton Moore lives in, and that man is a lonely, poorly-drawn, social outcast named Ziggy.
But don't take my word for it. Wikipedia, take it away:
The appeal of the cast is juxtaposed with the endless stream of misfortunes which befall Ziggy. The character is frequently depicted insurreal or arbitrary situations, though many jokes mine typical comic strip pop culture territory, such as computers and the perils of modern life.
Endless stream of misfortunes? Check. Insurreal and arbitrary situations? Check. Computers and other perils of modern life? Check.I really think we can learn a lot about Dayton through the eyes of Ziggy's daily comic.
I'll try to make a quasi-daily routine of this exercise in FanShots, with Dayton Moore portrayed as a poorly MS Paint'd version of Ziggy, and stay true to the themes of that day's Ziggy. Hope you enjoy.
