Steve Physioc sounds like a Spiderman villain
He was working human-enhancement drugs for the military, but they were dissatisfied with the pace of his progress. So in desperation, he tested the not yet perfected drugs on himself, and became……Physioc!

Nailed it
He probably had a 3 issue run in the mid-70’s, and then he just vanished into obscurity because even the writers thought he was pretty lame.

50 games with Physioc eh? Guess I'll find other things to do those nights.
Wonder if they’re picking him up just in case Ryan ever does bolt to MN. Quite odd to add him like that.
End of Line.
I think they should just put all of them in the booth at the same time
Except Goldberg, whose job will be to wander the stadium and find as many celebrity look-alikes to interview as possible.

Looks like I will continue to keep the sound off while watching Royals games

TO THE EXTREME!
Sounds like the Royals just hired Poochie.

I have done the same thing for the past few years.
I like to multi-task anyways. I watch the game on my laptop while I watch whatever my wife wants to watch on the big screen. I am pretty much your standard PW husband.

You're a better husband than I
If I’m even within earshot of one of those godawful “Real Housewives” shows, “The Bachelor”, etc., then my IQ starts dropping in 0.1 increments for every minute of footage to which I’m exposed.

Of all the innovations in the sports and technology universes
Don’t you think somebody would have come up with a way to just mute the sound of the announcers, and still hear the ambient game and crowd noises? Like an SAP button on the remote, except it would say Lefebvre Mute. I wonder how many people would take advantage of that in an average sports broadcast…50%? 90%?

Every married man has already developed the ability to filter out unwanted chatter
Am I right, fellas? Hey-o!
My Ryan Filter
Is about 90% effective.

They've been talking about "interactive TV" for years
But as of yet, there’s been no progress in actually bringing it to our televisions. For years, they’ve talked about having remote control commands for selecting the camera being watched (for live events), the audio channel(s) you’re hearing (like broadcasters, audience, on-field sounds, etc.) and your choice of stats on the screen. I’d love that, but who knows when it will actually happen.

MLB.tv
lets you choose ambient sound, if I recall.

I'll Look For
That.

Supposedly
This is Apple’s next big project, a truly interactive TV.

Does anyone have any clips or links to clips with Hudler commentating?
All I have now is the conflicting opinions of a bunch of naturally jaded Royals fans, which is sort of not useful.
The third Google hit for "Steve Physioc"
is a Halos Heaven piece on how he’s the “worst in baseball”. Not promising.

i stand by every word of it
Hudler, paired well, is great, but Physioc’s cloying banter and patronizing schtick bring out the worst in Hud.
I'm immune to this
I play enough MLB The Show. At the very least they can’t be any more boring or repetitive as they are in that game. Or can they….?

hiring the guys fired by other teams
that worked on the field right?

Aren't we burying the lead here?
No more, or at least, much less, Bob Davis.

Wither Monty? I thought maybe they were giving him a prepatory groomin' last year
I’ve seen snippets of Physics and Hudler….a cartoon caricature drawing of what baseball announcers sound like to people who have never watched baseball before. blegh. Ambient sounds would be such a sweet choice.

I would pay good money to have announcer-less coverage. Any chance some A/V / Computer whiz can figure that shit out?

Someone up thread was claiming it as an option via MLB.TV
I wish it were an option on the MLB Directv package….unfortunately, the delay via radio usually mucks up any cool Pink Floyd/Wizard of Oz synching between TV pictures and Radio audio.

Fuck.
I guess I’m watching road broadcasts from here on out…
Sporadically musing on the Royals at both Royals Review and Royalscentricity, pop culture at Inconsiderate Prick, SVU at Munch My Benson and on Twitter at Old Man Duggan
I'm with you. I was thinking Hudler's weird positive energy may have created an unconventional vibe
to the proceedings. But keeping those two guys together is just painful. A friend of mine, much smarter and wealthier than myself, has always claimed that he’d spend more on the broadcast talent than he would on most free agents.

I got rid of cable over two years ago,
and ever since have been listening to the games on the radio most nights. I have to admit, I really have missed watching the games, but not enough to pay the $60+ a month that cable now costs in Lawrence.
This move makes me less likely to re-up my cable or mlb.com subscription. The last thing I want most nights it to listen to an obnoxious d-bag babble on while I am trying to enjoy the game.
www.rockchalktalk.com for pretty good KU baseball coverage
Here's what I don't get.
Everyone complains about the TV broadcasters and talks about how they mute it or listen to the radio, but nobody ever mentions how terrible the radio broadcast is when Denny is not on. Do you guys LIKE Bob Davis? Because… Wow. He’s probably the worst broadcaster I’ve ever heard. His voice is fine I guess, but he doesn’t describe the game. When it’s his turn, I have no clue what’s going on. MLB Gameday gives me soon much more information. Example…. I turned on the radio yesterday and heard the KU game on. I’m not a KU fan, but I figured I’d listen for a little while. But I couldn’t follow the game because the only information Bob Davis gave me was whether there was a shot, a steal, or a rebound. And usually, he doesn’t name the player. He doesn’t tell you where the shot was taken from, he doesn’t mention passes, and he doesn’t give you an idea of what’s going on.
So how bout it? Tell me why Bob Davis has a job with the Royals.
