Wouldn't mind this
Burnett has had some terrible HR problems the last couple of years which Yankee Stadium is not helping.
If his HR’s drop he could put up some sort of hybrid 2008/2009 season and be worth about 4 wins.
But the Yankee’s would have to eat A LOT of cash and I still wouldn’t give up anything more than a C prospect at best for him.
"We don’t have guys with a long history of being effective in the seventh and eighth innings."
~Trey Hillman, master of understatements.
Sounds like
The Yanks are willing to eat enough money to make it a 2 year $10 mill deal

Burnett had his best years with the Yanks when Eiland was the pitching coach.
so maybe he could put up a nice bounce back year when reunited with his old coach.
but agree, Yanks would have to eat vast majority of his salary, and i wouldn’t give up much more than a C prospect (or C. Getz).

Even with the Yankees kicking in money this move would bother me
only because my firs thought is… this guy? With so many options available this would be the guy to commit to?
All things being equal and simply judging on his talent alone, I’m rather indifferent to it. Whatever, he’s a guy to put on the rotation…

And money due him for 2013 is less money they'd have to acquire a genuinely good pitcher
And Chen and Francoeur are already eating up too much of that money.
You may know me as NYRoyal.

Would I rather have Burnett than Chen for 2 years
And have a comp pick instead of C prospect? Um, yes. On the continuum of questionable moves, I like it better. That still doesn’t make it a fantastic idea.
I'd do the deal if they eat some of the money
and take Yuni.
I'm waiting for my wave of talent to arrive.

I don't understand how the Yankees can be so anal about long hair and facial hair
But they let shit like this slide….
