No love for Monty, eh??
I find that a little odd. It seemed like he has been floating around #50 in most other top 100s. Any thoughts on why they no likey??

No Montgomery
Interesting considering he was 21 the previous year. That’s quite the fall off.

It's funny in a not really very funny way at all
that John Lamb could have TJS yet still remain above Monty. Ugh. Bad ’11, Monty.

thats a really strange one for me....
it’s not like lamb has thrived above a ball either even before he got hurt…and as much as TJ generally comes with a full recovery, it’s not a sure thing

Goldstein seemed the most bullish on Lamb last year, so I don't begrudge him the ranking.
Jarrod Parker remained on most lists while he was recovering from TJS.
I was mostly saying that it wasn’t funny because Monty frankly pitched poorly enough to pitch his way off the list. Anyone still rating him highly is doing so under the belief that he’ll right a ship that had gotten way off course.

Just for kicks, Kevin's top 100 Royals since 2007...
2007
1. 3B Alex Gordon
21. OF Billy Butler
23. RHP Luke Hochevar
just missed cut: OF Chris Lubanski
2008
19. SS Mike Moustakas
72. RHP Luke Hochevar
2009
18. 1B Eric Hosmer
21. 3B Mike Moustakas
2010
36. LHP Mike Montgomery
54. RHP Aaron Crow
79. 3B Mike Moustakas
83. C Wil Myers
93. RHP Tim Melville
2011
7. 3B Mike Moustakas
11. LHP John Lamb
12. 1B Eric Hosmer
13. C Wil Myers
21. LHP Mike Montgomery
66. LHP Chris Dwyer
67. LHP Danny Duffy
76. RHP Jeremy Jeffress
77. RHP Jake Odorizzi
88. SS Christian Colon
The jury is still out on most of them.
Go Royals!
The 2007 class looks bust-free barring a meltdown
I agree we need more data on Mous and Hosmer.
The positions didn't stick.
Also, Hochevar hasn’t been ideal—96 starts, 7.4 fWAR (and he has consistently under-pitched his peripherals). Also, #4 prospect in the system Chris Lubanski didn’t quite work out.
I thought Moose and Hosmer were interesting prospect tales.
Moose: 19, 21, 79, 7
Hosmer: 18, UR, 12 (3rd in ROY vote)
The McKinney study only looked at top 100 prospects
So Lubanski wouldn’t be included.
One small correction
Lubanski was a top 100 prospect at one time. He was BA’s #68 prospect before the 2004 season. But he wasn’t in my study because my time period was top 100 prospects from 1990-2003.

I don't remember the exact details of McKinney's study.
Was the study to show the bust rate of players to not even make it to MLB? Or was it the bust rate that they wouldn’t become perenial all-stars.
