RRCCA Vol. IV -- Before You Was Born
Royals Review Community Compilation Album Vol. IV -- Now It's Personal -- The New Breed -- The Return of RRCCA -- Training Camp -- RRCCA: Legacy -- The Quickening
Nobody's done one of these in a while so I thought I'd do one. For those not familiar:
1. You send the URL of a song you like (specific rules with regard to theme* below) to " ceecee DOT savoy AT gmail DOT com " before Friday, 2/17/2012.
2. I select which songs go where in the playlist, with the intent of constructing a cohesive playlist that makes sense from beginning to end.
3. On Friday, I put a link to the playlist in a thread so we can all see what everybody else chose.
Get it?
* - The theme this time around is: Select a song that was released at least 5 years before you were born. Any genre, but in the interest of keeping the flow and fluidity legit, let's try to keep them shorter than 7 minutes. Dig?
Also, please REC this so it stays up toward the top for the week.

I started to throw one of these up today...
but couldn’t settle on a category.
Since 2005: Royals win% = .4100, Chiefs win% = .4095
Mitt Romney is a serial killer.
Im quite pleased with the song I picked...
didn’t actually know this song came out 5 years before I was born.

Or a song
that came out the exact year you were born. That will make some of us (like me) feel really old.
One that was out when you were a high school senior. (That might leave a couple of young guys out)
A song that makes you remember your first love/girlfriend/sex partner.
Worst song ever.
Favorite cover.
Song from the first album/CD/download (must have bought the entire record-not just one song) that you bought with your own money.
Song played at the first concert you saw. (I don’t know whether this should be the first one you spent your own money on, or if you should count shows your parents took you to)
Song from a favorite record or band that did not have much success or was short lived.
"Trying is the first step to sucking" -Jimmy Chance
Best Love Song would have been appropriate today
Or best anti-love song.

Others
Song you’d want to hear while stranded aboard a sinking sink
Song that pumps you up from beginning to end
Song with an awesome video
Justin Bieber to all three.

What will be depressing will be the fact that someone will submit a song from the 80s.

I thought about country or jazz, even Frank, or some old school gregorian chants from ancient monks
but I’m sticking with ABE. What are you rolling with? 98 degrees? Mister Mister? Journey? Men at Work? I know I’m warm.

wait a minute
its gotta be at least 5 years before you were born, so 83 and back if I were to be serious it’d be some yes or emerson lake and palmer.

I am going to have to invest some of Thomas Edison's wax cylinder recordings...
"Things could always be worse." - Buddy Bell
Shouldn't it be:
a song from very close to 5 year before you were born…I mean I could throw up a Leadbelly song if I wanted
I am the one who knocks.
Also...
I know this will be a little extra work, but I would like to see a list of who put what up a day or 2 after it is posted.
I am the one who knocks.
the problem with that...
is you won’t always know.
The last time I did it, I would say out of 22 (or so) videos, 7 or so didn’t reveal their identity, I was able to eventually figure out all but 2 by the clues in the thread, and by going back to the emails from the first time I did it.
I would rather have a list of people who submitted a video and then get to put the songs to the people.

I like the idea of the former. Of course, you'd have to request it ahead of time
since most people probably don’t send in their usernames, and also, we’ve had lurkers participate in this before. Which is fine – the more the merrier.

I like seeing OMD go Columbo
and start attaching songs to contributors like he’s Laverne AND Shirley putting bottle caps on beers. The bastard has a higher success rate than Soria’s SV%, which prob says more about us contributors than it does OMD.
by Nighthawk at the Diner on Feb 14, 2012 4:53 PM EST up reply actions
Or more about Soria.

I think it's safe to assume that
Nighthawk, Phil, Retro, Gatsby, Crooow, Beau, Phatt, Tito, Tiquan, KeepItCopacetic, Loose Seal, and myself are always in the mix on these. Klaassen usually is, too.
It’s those less active folks who always throw a kink into it for me.

U.S. Grant was decidedly non-musical
He once said, “I know only two tunes. One of them is ‘Yankee Doodle’ and the other one isn’t.’”
