OT: Bragging on my husband and his love of Strat-O-Matic
This is the little write-up he sent into Strat-O-Matic along with a picture of our recently deceased cat "helping" him play and which they have featured in their "Great Moments in Strat" for February. It perfectly encompasses the best things about him - his sweetness and his overwhelming baseball nerdiness. (It's the 2nd story.)

You have a keeper!
Strato probably was what got me interested in the stat part of the game more than anything when I was a kid until I read my first ‘Abstract’ several years later. It’s also a great tool for game strategy, or testing out theories. I would get so excited when Playworld would have the new year’s version, especially when the Royals had good seasons and would have killer cards. Something about the smell of those cards…
If women only slept with nice guys...guys would only be nice. And they don't. And we're not.
I played Strat-o-magic baseball in the 1960's
You could have Willie Mays, Tom Seaver, Roger Maris, or Choo Choo Coleman
Also, I am convinced playing that forced me to learn to print clearly, something my students appreciate today
"Things could always be worse." - Buddy Bell
I played in the 1970's
and even now I have a very modest (and very slow) 4-team tournament underway, with the 1969 Mets, 1985 Royals, 2004 Red Sox, and 2010 Giants.
The Mets and Giants are knotted up 1-1 in their best-of-7. Haven’t started the Royals-Red Sox yet. Must get this rolling again.
Yes I know you guys
I read the write up on Strat website and you all live in my area (Fairway) Your husband also on the Strat Forum, been playing for 45 years (since 5)
sorry about your astute feline – but it sounds like she lived a good life
I enjoyed the write up – 1958 coming out this year – I think
