Bruce Chen is lined up to start Opening Day

35

From the KC Star: "Veteran left-hander Bruce Chen is starting today in a minor-league game. That would position him to start Sunday on regular rest and again April 6 on regular rest for the season opener against the Angels in Anaheim, Calif." Me: Chen has not been announced as the OD starter, but you can pretty much tell by how the starters are lined up. Hochevar and Sanchez are lined up to start the second and third games of the season. Isn't this just beautiful? The Opening Day starter isn't of genuine importance, but it has symbolic value. And this is the symbolism we have: the Royals "ace" is a meh, soft-tossing, aged veteran who we overpaid and are now over-rewarding with an Opening Day start. What fun!
