The Royals have signed outfielder Alex Gordon to a four-year contract extension worth $37.5 million with a player option for 2016 that could make the deal worth $50 million. The twenty-eight year old Gordon is coming off a career best season in which he hit .303/.376/.502 with 23 HR 87 RBI and his first Gold Glove. In 559 career games with the Royals, he is a .262/.343/.434 hitter. If Gordon exercises his player option and is not traded, he will have spent a full decade in a Royals uniform.
Spring training is saved. The important thing is - we survived.
