Ponson signed a minor league contract with the Royals in 2009. Somehow, he made the roster, and was the starter for the home opener. He was demoted in August, and has never played in the majors since. His Royals line (ERA/FIP/xFIP) was 7.36/4.72/4.73 with a 0.6 WAR. Oddly enough, projection system Marcel predicts a 4.79 ERA for him this year.
