As I'm full on garbage at this point, I figured the only way I might make this post worse was to do in slide-show fashion, but alas, that isn't possible on the veritable SB Nation platform. Nevertheless, like Ulysses, we'll head on.
So how many home runs for Eric Hosmer in 2012? In three games this season, he has two.
Last season, in 563 PAs, Hosmer hit 19 bombs. Various projection systems have him belting between 20-25 this season. I believe Kevin Goldstein projects him to be a beautiful young man. Buster Olney will soon rave about his second-only-to-Perez level of presence.
Eagle-eyed close readers will note that I'm prone to the occasional nights of doubt regarding young Moose. I don't feel that way about Hosmer. Perhaps this goes back to July 4th 2010, when Mrs. Freneau and I watched the Hosmer and the Blue Rocks absolutely annihilate some Nats affiliate. I even took pictures. This was the beginning of the Best Farm System Ever talk, and that night Hosmer hit two massive home runs. After the game my wife left me for a week to follow the Blue Rocks around the mid-Atlantic, they were so impressive.
Can he top 25? Top 30? Top Balboni? Can we allow ourselves to be giddy on this one? Or do we remind ourselves it has just been three good games?
