It was a perfect game for Butler. He was 3 for 3, 2 walks and the game winning walk-off home run. An All-Star performance from our lone All-Star.

Highlights

  • After falling behind 1-0 in the 2nd, the Royals took a 3-1 lead, but gave it back in the 4th. They fought back again and had a 4 run lead until the Mariners tied it up in the 7th. Billy's 9th inning blast was the difference.
  • Getz, Gordon and Cain all had good hitting nights. They were a combined 7 for 12 with 5 RBIs. Getz and Gordon both were both aggressive on the base paths with positive results.
  • Seattle may have an arguments about the Royals getting all the calls from the umpires. Three plays could have easily gone Seattle's way instead of the Royals (Gordon at 2nd, out by Moose at 3B and Getz to Pena at home).
  • Bruce got hit around fairly hard with 7 hits with 2 going for HRs. He limited the damage by not walking anyone.
  • Crow can't pitch with runners on base. OPS allowed with no one on: 0.412. OPS with Runners on base: 0.827.
  • Hosmer looks lost at the plate. Since the All-Star break he is hitting 0.118/0.250/0.176
  • Hacker of the game: Moustakas seeing 11 pitches in 4 PAs
