KANSAS CITY, MO - AUGUST 28: Salvador Perez #13 of the Kansas City Royals reacts after hitting a double in the 6th inning to drive in a run during the game against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium on August 28, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

It was an ugly win. It was nice to see Verlander get shelled. We probably won't score another run against him all year.

Highlights of the game

  • The Royals got to Verlander early for 7 runs in the first 2 innings.
  • Mendoza wasn't much better with 6 ER from 7 Hits, 1 BB and a HR.
  • Francouer was intentionally walked again. His 5th this month.
  • All the batters got a hit except Frenchy and Hosmer who both walk once.
  • Perez seemed to be struggling to get in front of some pitches. The official line shows only 2 WP, but it seemed worse.
  • Hacker of the game: Perez saw 14 pitches in 5 PAs.
