The Royals have three of them: Endy Chavez, Xavier Nady and George Sherrill.

Three relevant rules apply to these three players.

1. They must be informed by March 26th if they are going to make the 25 man roster.

2. If they are not going to make the 25 man roster and consent to open the season in AAA, they earn a $100,000 retention bonus.

3. If they are still in AAA on June 1st, they can opt out of their minor league deal and try to hook on with another organization.

Nothing earth shattering here, just some facts to keep in mind. These are, according to Baseball American, the only three players in camp with the Royals who are subject to these terms.
