Gordon is batting over .500, Billy has been on a tear this week, on his way to .400, and Shields has been as solid as we can ask for so far. But these guys we expect to perform. There are two guys that caught my eye by having great performances so far.
This guy David Lough.
Some people will argue that Spring Training tells us nothing and he has only had 25 AB's, but I disagree. Anyone who is hitting .520 has my attention. We'll see how the rest of his spring goes, but as of right now I wouldn't mind seeing him steal some innings from Frenchy in right field. The most promising thing I see is the 0 in the strikeout column. To me, that tells me this guy has pure talent. I think he can hit at a big league level, even if that means we lose 10 homers a year by replacing Francouer. I'm a David Lough fan, and I'd like to see him finally get his shot at the big show.
On the mound...
As goofy as this picture makes him look, Yordano Ventura can pitch.
This is more reassuring than unexpected. He is a flamethrower who we expect big things out of. He is still young though. He is tied on the team for the most innings, and he has done all he could do with those innings. With the opposing team only hitting .138 against him, that has to get everyone a little excited for what is to come.
It's not just these two guys. The Royals we know and love are 13-1. That's no fluke. Everybody should be getting a little anxious.
