Reflecting On The Dreadful Second Base Situation.

How about an Elliot Johnson/Irving Falu platoon at 2B? Johnson can't hit a lick against LHP, so Falu can grab those starts. They'd always have a utility infielder on the bench that can play all three infield positions with this arrangement.

Defensively they'd be better off by allowing Johnson to get the bulk of the playing time at the position. The problem is, I can't fathom the notion of Getz and Giavotella both being sent down to AAA to make this scenario come to pass.

Would you prefer a Johnson/Falu platoon to a Getz/Gio? If it frees up an extra bench spot for a right handed corner bat or a 5th outfielder, I'm on board! If "Getzie" or Gio could play shortstop, I'd likely be singing a different tune.
