Jarrod Dyson as our 4th outfielder is an obvious move. A lot of folks on these boards have agreed that a super platoon between Cain, Francoeur, Dyson makes the most sense. Dyson was effective enough against RHP last year. (Sit him against all lefties please!) It's just too bad that Yost isn't a firm believer in platoons.
It's safe to say that Kottaras will be our #2 catcher. (A solid waiver claim pick up for the Royals.) If my ideal scenario of Johnson/Falu at 2nd base actually came to fruition this would leave one more available bench spot. (Assuming they break camp with 12 pitchers.)
I really don't see any use for their slew of veteran invites. I'd like to see a right handed bat off the bench to compliment Kottaras and Dyson. I'd be stoked if they explored a trade for a RH infielder that can play the corners. How about a Jordan Pacheco from the Rockies for example?
Pacheco isn't known for his glove, but he could give Moose/Hosmer a day off occasionally against a tough lefty. What he could provide the club is a solid contact bat off the bench. (A potential .280-.290 hitter off the bench sounds good to me.) An added perk is he'd be our emergency #3 catcher.
I'm sure most of you on the these boards would welcome the addition? I'm fairly confident with how the dominoes will really fall, but this is the best time of year to express our opinions on what's best for the team.
